Troubleshoot your Samsung Series 450 TV to resolve problems with a blurry screen or the TV's audio, or to work through problems with connected devices.

Problems with your Samsung Series 450 LCD TV can make the TV difficult to watch, and in some cases impossible. Problems with the TV can be hardware related, or a result of how the TV or an external device is set up. Here are some tips on how to overcome some of the most common problems.

Bad Picture

Step 1: If you are using a component connection and the colors look out of place, such as reds look blue, ensure the component cables are connected to the appropriate, matching-colored jack on your Samsung Series 450 TV.

Step 2: An electrical device near the TV could be interfering with the over the air signals being pulled in, resulting in a blurry screen. Remove or turn off any electrical devices near the TV that pull in and send out signals, such as cell phones and turn off devices that use a lot of power, such as power tools that are running near the TV.

Step 3: Change the TV's picture size to 16:9 if you are experiencing a dotted line on the edges of the display and you are using Picture Fit. Alternatively, dotted lines can be the result of an outputted resolution on your cable box that isn't supported by your Samsung Series 450 TV. Try changing the cable box's output resolution.

Audio Problems

Step 1: You won't hear any audio through the TV's internal speaker if those speakers are turned off. You can enable the internal speakers in the Sound section of the Samsung Series 450 TV's main menu.

Step 2: You may not be hearing audio associated with a connected external device if the volume for that device is turned completely down, regardless how high the volume on the TV is set to.

Step 3: The internal speakers may make a buzzing sound or not work at all if the audio cables connecting an external device's audio to the Samsung Series 450 TV are not firmly pushed into the audio jacks on either the TV or the external device.

Connected Computer Problems

Step 1: Change the output resolution on a computer connected to your Samsung TV if the computer's display does not appear, if it's shaky or if it doesn't fit the TV screen.

Step 2: Typically, inputs where devices are not connected to the computer will not appear in the list of available sources, but this is not the case with the PC input. The PC input is always listed, and there is no problem with either your computer or your TV because that input is listed.

Step 3: If your computer is connected to your TV using an HDMI cable, you will need to set the computer up to output its audio through the HDMI cable, otherwise you won't hear any audio.

Take the TV to a professional repair person if the problem is something you don't feel like you can fix on your own. Also, check to see if your TV is still under warranty through either Samsung or the place where you purchased the device.
